Fresh Gas~! Ha!
Well I am now gauranteed to have fresh gas!
Ran it completely dry on the way home yesterday. Gauge has never worked, but always filled it up every 100miles. Been so cold here in Ohio that I've to let it idle a good 20+ minutes to warm up. Turns out...burns a lot just sitting there with the odometer inanimate. First thing this Spring...NEW GAS GAUGE! Cheers! Oh..and rebuild the heater blower too. Some days it only works on third speed? Man! I cannot wait for Winter to end! |

Re: Fresh Gas~! Ha!
My old car gas gauge stopped working so I just fill ed up every 200 miles. Never ran out but that fear was always there

Re: Fresh Gas~! Ha!
The Lt Brown float sender wire from the top of the tank got burned out when the PO let it get too close to the exhaust on my '71 GMC Jimmy K/1500. Since it has 1/4" steel skid-plate armoring -- secured with about 2 dozen 3/8' bolts holding it -- I have not attempted to remove it to drop the tank, as the Class 4 hitch has to be dropped too.
So I keep a clipboard on the dash and carefully note my trip-to-trip mileages and fill-ups. I factor on about 10 MPG. I try to keep it topped off at 100 mile intervals. Sometimes that gets stretched. If you can't fix the system, I'd advise hauling a 5 gallon Gerry Can in the back.
