Gauge panel repair
Perhaps this has been discussed in previous threads, but I have an '03 Silverado that needs the gauge panel rebuilt. The panel works intermittently, at best. Any recommendations for a reputable place located somewhat close to the Midwest region?

A lot of guys do an escalade cluster for this reason..or at least use it as an excust..lol

Gear i order remans from dorman products they run about $200.00 dollars and have a lifetime waranty

what exactly is the problem with the cluster? i've rebuilt some in the past and it's not hard with some basic tools and knowledge of soldering. Stepper motors are easy to replace lights are an easy swap out as well.

I use a guy in Ripley TN. He has done about 10 or so for me. He charges $65 bucks and that breaks into $50 to do the cluster [all seven motors and all the lights no matter if just one motor is bad]and $15 to cover the shipping back to you. I just mail him the cluster, and include a postal money order for $65 dollars to Anthony Binkley
1364 Hiway 51 N Ripley TN 38063 731-413-0871 Now I don't have any connection with Anthony except he has rebuilt like I said about 10 clusters for me[rebuilding 99-07 Chevy and GMC trucks your gonna need a cluster guy] I can take them out and mail them off and they normally come back to me in two days. put in the box a card with your name and phone number so if problems arise he can contact you. I have also sent referrals it he 20 to 30 range to him and never had a problem. He warranties his stuff for a year so I really like his work. Jim |

Thanks for all of the responses. The gauges light up, but do not work, they all point to zero. Even the odometer and gear selector is dark, which makes the problem worse, because every one I've seen, requires the mileage (due to some federal regulation...)
truckdude239, I was looking at the Dorman units at Summit, $164.97, but also a $300 core charge! You get it back when you return the old unit, but that's a big up front cost. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rn...silverado-1500 hugger6933 - I'll look into your guy in TN. I've also seen ads in the local Auto-RV trader for a guy in KY, Kincer's Service (www.kincerservice.com), among others, but just checking for any experience and/or references. thanks for all your help guys! |
