Exclamation Carburetor Advice Please...

Hey guys,

I currently have a nice rebuilt Quadra-Jet on my '71 GMC 2500 and a piece of junk Quadra-Jet on my '71 C10. Due to the condition of the junk one, I can't start my C10, which i need to every-so-often since it's just sitting in my backyard. So my plan is to buy a new carb for the GMC and put the nice Quadra-Jet on the C10. But my problem is, i have no idea which way to go for the new one. The GMC has a 307 small block in it with 4.10 gears, if that helps. I don't need anything too wild, as it's just my daily driver. I just want a nice, reliable carb that will match up well with my little 307 . Any advice on which way to go is appreciated. Thanks!

The thing is, I think it might be too far gone to be rebuilt, at least by me anyways. Maybe I should find someone who has the parts and better know-how to do it...?

Rebuild it or hire someone to rebuild it. I bought a JET stage 2 from summit racing a few years back. The truck would not idle. I learned how to rebuild a Quadrajet I had laying around and my truck ran great. The jet carb cost hundreds where a rebuild kit and choke advance cost up $50.

Quadrajets are such a simple and basic carb that I'm not sure why people are so scared of them.

If you have any know how of how to take something apart and remember how it goes back together you can do it.

Lots of places out there to order replacement parts as well.
