Horn note

Hi, how do you tell if the horn on a 65 is high or low note.

Re: Horn note

Might sound like a dumb answer, but if it does a high "beep beep" that one would expect from a Prius or similar car compact car, it's a high note. If it's a manly "honk honk", it's a low note. My C10 is a low note.

Of course, if the horn doesn't work or you're tone deaf, use the answer above mine.

Re: Horn note

Thanks guys. Now do you think a high and low would sound good together and would I need a second relay?

Re: Horn note

They come out with two horns, a high and a low. Take the wire off the opposite horn to test. Power goes to both horns from the one relay.

Re: Horn note

I run two low note horns off of my single relay. When I use the horn, people really notice.

I run a high/low horn and it sounds great. Like a big ol' battleship Buick. I honk it every chance I get. It really gets my wife when I honk at complete strangers in their yards and wave like I know them.

Re: Horn note

Hi TJ, cool truck man. Thanks for blowing the horn! It sounds just like mine so I think you have a low note. I'm a liking that power brake pedal you got there! Have a good one Mike.

Re: Horn note

Cool video. I also think the lever on the firewall was probably part of a windshield washer arrangement. It may not have been OEM however, it might have been an aftermarket part or heaven forbid a Ford item. I know the early Falcon's had something very similar. Back when these trucks were new, nobody cared about using OEM parts. Anything that would fit and work was just fine.

Why, are the original ones really worth doing that?

If I had an original in very good condition I could make a more correct pad. Don't get me wrong mine look good and I've sold a bunch to truck clubs out in California and elsewhere but there is always room for improvement.

Re: Horn note

Found one pump after years of looking, sold with the truck. Squirter's are the same as Corvette. Bags dry out from no fluid and the heat under the hood.

I have the GMC instruction sheets for installation.

I have one. It's pretty worn, but if it'll help you perfect your product just let me know. I don't even have power brakes anymore anyhow.

Re: Horn note

Thanks Dave that nice of you but the pad would have to be as perfect as possible for the CNC to create a new mold. Anyway I've highjacked my own thread so let's get back on track. LOL!
