1974 C30 Camper Special
I've been working on my 1974 C30 Camper Special. I bought it in pretty good running condition but I think the previous owner may have changed some things up from the "Original" scheme of the truck as it came from the factory. Where is the Trim panel for the truck? I know where the vin plate is but cant locate the trim/paint tag???
I have a couple of questions for the local experts on what it "True". Heres the info, please let me know if something doesn't match for an original 1974 Camper Special 1974 Chevy C30 "Camper Special" 454 bbc w/ 400 trans Exterior- Black with white center stripe Top of cab is black as well (Not white) Chrome Bumpers (Back being a step bumper) I know the grill has been changed (Plan on going back original) Hood has a standup Square Emblem with a Yellow bowtie in middle Chrome trim around Windshield Chrom drip rails Custom Deluxe 30 on the front fenders up in Top Left corner Black Short Tripod Mirrors (I know blacks not original) Trim around back of cab with square yellow emblem with bowtie in middle Camper Special emblem right below that on rear of cab Bed has Fuel Doors 1x on each side (I believe its a later model Bed) Tailgate has a make shift "Newer 81-87" silver trim across it with CHEVROLET on actual tailgate (But is covered up by the big trim Ive already replaced the blacked out Marker/Brake Lights Interior- Entire interior is painted black Bench seat that's been custom wrapped Grey Carpet Grey Door panels with black "Tooled" design around the middle Brushed aluminum looking handle and window cranks Dash is black (Repop) w/ a orange Cheyenne emblem on passenger side Rear view mirror on glass It has a 80s model chevy steering wheel (I know that's not standard equipment) Has a Fuel Tank switch and a Manuel Choke knob right underneath it Ill try and post a lot of pics later (On a nicer day). My goal is to get the truck pretty much back to "Standard" equipment like it would have had if bought in 1974 but not a full frame off resto, more just the classic look of OE options/design/color Thanks in Advance |

Re: 1974 C30 Camper Special
I will get pics tomorrow, I plan on lowering it about a inch or two at most after I get tires on it this weekend. Those rear Bias Ply knobby tires are killing the ride. Its a little too tall for me since I use it as my work/shop truck (Towing, Loading bed, Getting in and out/in and out)

Re: 1974 C30 Camper Special
Sweet looking C30. My dad bought a 1973 Camper special new. He ordered it in October, they didnt have anything but artist concept drawings, he didn't get it till March of 73. 350 w/super 400 turbo auto, 5 ton overloads, dual tanks Crimson red, gave $5016 for it new. He put over 200,000 miles on it before he traded it off in 89 for another new one.

The trim tag is on the glove box inside. Maybe inside the seat cushions?? I doubt the latter of the two since your seat was recovered.

Re: 1974 C30 Camper Special
I am seeing many non '74 parts: Clear parking light lens, should be amber. Custom Deluxe emblems in that style did not exist in '74.Headlight bezels should have black paint not silver paint. Square gas tank doors did not exist in '74. Hood ornaments did not exist in '74 also. Are you sure its a '74? looks more like a '78 or '79.
