My 72 top has not been off for years do I need worry?

Do I need to take any precautions before or during removal to make sure I don't damage the paint on the upper rail? I know it was taken off when it was painted. I just want to make sure I don't mess it up if its something avoidable.

Thanks PG

My 2 cents. Make sure you have 4 strong guys, lift up and don't plan on putting it down until clear of the truck. Top off wouldn't that be nice.... still in storage and dropping to 2 F again.

Nah don't worry about it. If you are curious about the windshield frame just unbolt it and set it up on 2x4's and have a look. If you need to replace any seals that's the time to do it.

Just make sure it comes off clean and that you have all the bolts out. There are two in the rear that I didn't notice on My double wall that were hard to get to. Take your time just in case the bolts have rusted to the inner nuts too. The bolts will snap off if you put too much force into them. I have 4 that broke off on mine.
