Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
I just received a restored brake booster and I am told it is from a 1972 Chevy pickup. I'm curious about the placement of the Delco Moraine logo. I was told that this is how they were stamped on 1972 Chevy trucks. I looked all over the web and I see where some serious Chevelle and Camaro folks don't consider one correct unless it IS upside down beneath the vacuum valve as seen in my picture but of the few pics I could find on this forum they were all right side up in the 2 o'clock position. Just to clarify, I'm only talking about original Delco parts not the Delco stamped aftermarket parts.

. . . .
I don't know the answer, but here's a picture of a 72 Blazer that was said to have 10,000 original miles: . . . . |

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
Have never seen the upside down stamp on a truck, only Camaros and not all came that way most were right side up on the other side. I had The Right Stuff company build one for my 72 truck with the Delco Moraine stamp on it.
Here is the link I started for it. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=661200

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
The originals on my 72 Chevy K10 and C10 with Delco Moraine boosters are stamped upright on the driver side like the new one I had built.

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
I got your PM, and you know what, I don't have a 1/2 ton truck here to look at. My 71 K/10 is in storage and my low mile 71 2wd has manual brakes

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
Thanks for the response. Could you please tell the numbers from your booster on the front and back sides of the tab circled in the picture below?

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
I believe the one that is black in this thread was spray bombed black at some point since the top of the master cylinder and bails are also painted. The one that appears to be a matte silver in color has had the cadmium plating worn off over time. The two with the green dots I believe to have their original finish and the one in my first post was replated within the last few weeks.

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
Chris, here is pic of my 72 Cheyenne Super booster. I restored this truck before repros were available, (1989) so I took the original apart and had it plated.

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
Thanks davischevy. Where is the Delco Moraine logo located? Would it be possible to get the numbers from the tab I mentioned a few posts up?
Also, who did the replating? Are they still in business? |

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
As far as I can tell the numbers are 1230 (front of tab) 0991 (back of tab). The numbers were upside down and were not imprinted very well in the steel. I hope that helps.

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
The factory black painted brake boosters were produced by Bendix for GM.
The Delco Moraine were gold cadmium plated.

Re: Factory Correct Specialists Input Requested - Brake Booster
Agreed. That's another reason I believe the black booster posted earlier has been painted since it has a Delco Moraine logo.
