From Roll Pan back to Bumper

I'm going to convert my front end back to having a bumper. I'm going to put back what the PO hacked off the frame, but I need a measurement. I have the complete schematic of the frame measurements, but it is nearly impossible to get an accurate messurement with the truck assembled and attemping to do it by myself. What I need is the measurement from the leading edge of the radiator support bracket to the end of the frame horn. This way I can tell how much of the horn I'm missing or need to replace. I'm going to post another tread in the for sale section to buy a set of horns that I can then cut and attach to the end of my frame.

My frame is down to a roller at the moment, I can get the measurements. Do you want to take a photo of where exactly you need measured from? That way I could take a few with the tape measure for ya.

Here's a shot of my horns cut off. Measure from the front of the radiator support bracket. (bottom left in picture) If you don't have the bracket mounted, measure from the top rivet hole for the bracket. Thanks for your help.
BTW do you know if the horns on a K20 frame are the same as a C10?

Measuring from the side of the radiator mount to the center of the top bolt hole is 5 1/2". That's about the best place I can measure due to the front of the horns being round and not square. I don't know I don't know of the 2wd frames are the same as the 4wd. Mine is a 68 short bed 2wd. I got a picture of how I measured it for ya, I will post it shortly.

Thanks mud truck, that's perfect. Looks like the Overall measurement is 7-5/8" - 7-3/4"

Yes, 7 5/8" is what I came up with as well. I just wasn't sure how to measure for you since its not square anywhere on the end.

Wow good job! Stopping by a welding shop to have that welded up would only cost 20 bucks or so, just a thought for ya! Either way, glad you got it together!

Amazing stepside! Did you any issues with your 15' wheels clearing the lower control arms? Considering running 15x7 3.75 bs in front and 15x8 3.75 bs in rear and worried I may have clearance issue in the front since I'm converting to disc brakes.

That's the same size size wheel and BS I have with disc brakes. I have no rubbing issues. I am careful how hard of a turn I take since the PO removed the bump tops and I'm a little gun shy since I did have LCA rubbing issues with 4" back spacing. I installed some make shift stops, but don't think I get close to hitting them with my cautious turning.

Where did you buy the brackets/bumper from?

I bought the bumper and brackets through Ecklers. Their just down the road from me so it was a no brainier with no shipping. Not sure what brand they are, but I went for the show quality bumper for $30 more. The bolts in the bumper hardware kit Ecklers sells (separately) are way to small. I picked up Stainless Steel carriage bolts from HD and polished the heads. Watch out for SS bolts, they can gouge. I had one freeze up on me while I was test fitting the bumper. I could not get it to loosen or tighten. If I would have rounded out the square hole in the bumper if I applied to much loosening leverage. I had to drill it out without screwing up the new bumper..what a PIA! I coated all of the bolts with anti- seize thereafter.
Measure measure measure, I had it close ( I thought within a 1/4" in and out and up and down). That .25" required me to add a lot of shims ( washers) to get the bumber to look square with the grill. I even pulled and realigned the grill to fit properly. I could go back and adjust the horn location, but I like the way they look and I got them to work.
