Re: Anybody have a pic of

Here is an old pic of Dad's 77 from back when we were taking the bed apart. It's the best pic I've got at the moment.
The old rusty cross sill had a patch plate welded onto the side facing the tailgate. And a small patch riveted over a rust hole on the upper corner. But the notch that the boards lay into wasn't patched/modified.

We had a local fabrication shop make replacements for a lot of the rusty pieces that were specific to the E81 wood floor (including that rear cross sill). I'm pretty sure the old rusty pieces that were saved for templates are still in Dad's storage shed. If I get a chance in the next few days I'll go take a look and get some better close-up pics of the rear sill.

Here are some more pics of the old cross sill:

I salvaged the sections where the rear pair of bed-to-frame bolts went through and welded them onto the new cross sill. So the old one has a couple chunks cut out:

A close-up photo of the end showing the hole for the tail light wiring:

And some close-ups showing the notch that the tail ends of the boards fit into:

If you are thinking of making wood bed kits (if that's possible), count me in for one.
