Question non-tilt auto steering columns??

I have seen no shortage of expensive tilt columns. Was there even a non-tilt auto column offered?? if so, i'd like to pick one up.
Why a non-tilt? 2 reasons:

1. i hate my floor shifter

2. tilt columns are out of my price range

Thanks

Yes! In fact there are more non-tilts around than tilts by far. I don't quite get your comment.

The only hard thing about tilt columns is getting one in good shape. The indicators are often broke. There are two different length of column shifter handles. The internals are simetimes missing, etc.

After buying 2 or 3 of them you'll be able to assemble one good one.

Post in the parts section asking for a non tilt auto column. There will be plenty of people offering to sell you one. Expect to pay 20-50 depending on condition.

Thanks for the info!! 20-50 sounds a lot better than the 300-400 for a tilt column.

Just to let you knwo I went to the wrecking yard a couple of weeks ago and picked up a tilt column from a 78 van ( had to pull it out myself) for 60$. It's is great shape steering wheel has no cracks but is has the chevy emblem and I drive a gmc ( minor detail).

The indicator was there but cracked ( I was able to just pull it out, gonna glue it back in).

So maybe check out a few yards and see what they have. Who knows what you may find and it may cost you about the same.

So did the column out of the van work? I have a 79 van with a non-tilt auto column that I thought about putting in my 68 but I thought it would be too short.

I haven't installed it yet cause I may have to change the cab anyhow, so I figured I would wait.

I have a non-tilt auto column with the key out of a 79 chevy. If you have no other option, I would let you have it for free....of course, you have to pay the shipping. Not sure how much, but I would think no less than $40 just based on the weight/size.

Let me know, send an email if you want it.

Good luck!!!
