Single to duel exhaust do much?

First on my near stock 72 k5 350/auto would the switch make much difference performance wise in power or fuel use etc? Second was it ever an option in 72 or a dealer option even? Would it be detrimental to the value as a near all stock if not totally stock k5? Thanks PG

Re: Single to duel exhaust do much?

Should boost your gas mileage and power a little bit. Not an option for K5s or any other "K" truck (BB 2wd trucks?).

I'm an admitted "purist" but personally not put off by dual exhaust. Your K5 is so clean you may want to consider an additional set of OEM exhaust hangers and make use of these at time of the install (per-existing frame holes already supplied by GM). IMO the extra hangers help preserve an OEM-type look to the dual exhaust. I made use of a set on my K20 build and have sets for both my K5 and K1500. Also, if I had your K5 I'd stick with the factory exhaust manifolds rather than headers.

Re: Single to duel exhaust do much?

You asked about dealer-installed. Most dealers were willing to send vehicles out to local exhaust shops to have duals installed. That was before the days of catalytic convertors and other emissions regulations.

I think a well-done dual exhaust wouldn't hurt the value of your Blazer. In fact, unless you're planning on a concourse vehicle, I think most buyers would prefer it.
