loose wheel bearing dust cap
Guys
When i pulled my driver side dust cap off to change the rotor/bearings, i noticed that some of the grease was discolored. the dust cap didnt seem loose, but when i go to put it back on the new rotor, its not very tight at all. i bent the edges out a bit to make it tighter, but cant be 100% sure its a perfect circle But i got to thinking, could i just put some rtv on the dust cap to help seal it? or would that be asking to screw up my bearings if some got in there? Its a 71 c10, so i think im looking for the equivalent of a mr gasket 2486/2.180" dust cap. Not really into chrome, so i could strip them and paint them. i saw at least one guy says those 2486s dont fit right. cant find a new stock replacement What would you guys do? thanks |

Re: loose wheel bearing dust cap
Autozone has them in the help isle. They fit on my 72 rotors as far as I know they are all the same size through the years.
Does it look like this? |
