16/20 gallon tank?
I just received a 20 gallon tank for my 83 k10 longbed though lmc truck. The magazine said that long beds are 20 gallon tanks. Is that true, do all long beds come with the 20 gallon tanks? Mine has two 16 gallon tanks.

Re: 16/20 gallon tank?
Most longbed trucks were equipped with 20 gallon tanks. But when the dual tank option was added, some longbed trucks were equipped with 16 gallon tanks.
The tank sizes are listed in the vehicle info kits from the GM Heritage Center. But I haven't gone through them all to see exactly what factors determined whether or not a particular longbed would have received dual 20 gallon vs. dual 16 gallon tanks. |

Re: 16/20 gallon tank?
If you have 16 gallon tanks on a long bed you will need extension tubes and two extra short hoses to connect to your filler neck. The 16 gallon tanks are shorter than the 20 gallon tanks, so you need the extension tubes/hoses to reach farther forward from the filler neck. Ebay sometimes has filler necks and hoses for sale used, but I don't think they are available used. I have seen 16 gallon tanks on long bed trucks. I think 16 gallon tanks may have been standard equipment with 20 gallon tanks an optional choice.
