this is kinda cool
My grandpa bought my truck new (he's 92 and going strong) I bought it from him when I was 12. ( I'm 30 now) We both drive the same way, with one hand at 12 o'clock on the steering wheel. This is a picture of where my hand sets on the wheel. I have actually worn completely through the outer part of the wheel. It's all the way down to the metal.

Re: this is kinda cool
wow, looks really nice LOL. Might take a lot of driving to finish the rest of the wheel off.

Re: this is kinda cool
. . . .
I knew a tractor trailer driver back in the late 70's who drove an old Kenworth cab over with over 500,000 miles on it. He had worn a QUARTER INCH deep indentation where his finger rubbed the plastic steering wheel ( like the one pictured, below ) His arm rested on the top of the door where the window rolled down and steered with that ONE finger ( until he had to make a turn anyway ) . . . . |

Re: this is kinda cool
I got my 69 c10 from my gramps who bought it new. He was a cabinet maker and blind in his left eye. All the dents were in the left side of the truck and the steering wheel was covered in sawdust impregnated pitch.
He stopped driving it about 15 years before he gave it to me because of his age and the fact it wouldn't start. The day I went to pick it up I found the gas tank was full of sawdust, I couldn't imagine how but had a flashback to about 15-20 years earlier to a visit we made to granny and gramps house where my cousin and I were pretending to have invented a new super fuel, we had gone behind his shop and filled a bucket with sawdust and poured it in the tank. When he gave it to me it took forever to get the sawdust out of the fuel system, on my 120 mile trip home I had to pull over at least 20 times to clean the fuel filter. The engine still runs perfect to this day.
