Will a '67 to '68 steering wheel fit a '72 truck?
My original steering wheel is really breaking apart. I know nice OEM or NOS is hard to come by. Will a 1967 to 1968 steering wheel fit a 1972?
The '67 and '68's are all metal right? |

The compound used is much more durable than the 69-72 wheels and less prone to cracking.

The older steering wheels were built over a steel bar frame but were overmolded with a material like hard rubber and painted. The paint would wear through in high wear areas. The newer ('71 and '72) were produced in a similar fashion using a harder colored plastic that was not painted, but was prone to deteriorate and crack, probably from UV exposure.
I believe they will physically interchange. The older wheels appear to be more durable. |

The wheels are still splined the same as they were as far back as I can trace. Back to the early 60's for sure. They just are useable as they went to a square center for the air bag in like 95[for the trucks anyway]. Jim
