Smile haven't been here for a while

Thought i'd stop in and say HI to everyone. lots of new people since i last visited. still have my old 72 super 4x4, traded my 72 2wd suburban for a 69 4x4 suburban, used all the running gear and parts from my 72 cheyenne 4x4 to fix the 69-it still hasn't been fired up yet but has a rebuilt 350 sitting under the hood waiting for me. picked up an 80 chevy 3/4 ton 4x4 with a 400 small block, turbo 400 and 205, not a bad old truck for 500 bucks, runs great and doesn't look bad either. still have the 77 K5 too, thats old faithful.

Re: haven't been here for a while

Hi Jerry. I was wondering why I hadn't heard much from you in a few years. Good to have you back. I bought a Blazer windshield frame from you maybe 16 years ago.
I still have the blue '71 Jimmy and my '68 C/10 Orange Stepside.

Re: haven't been here for a while

I'm probably one of those "new guys" you're talking about. I should have been on here when the forum started, because that's when I started buying parts for my bondo buggy.

I think Suburbans (and panels) are neat as can be and I sure wish I had a 4x4 version.

Hey Jerry, I was thinking about you the other day, hope things are good with you. I was telling a guy about you buying all the tow hooks back in the day, hope you still have them, they would make a good retirement, lol. Take care Randy

Talking Re: haven't been here for a while

Thanks guys, it's been a long time since i've been on here. had to back off my trucks after my back got so bad and had to get operated on a couple years ago. i was really down after the doctor told me he couldn't fix the left side of my spine due to arthritis damage. i'm still working 40+ hours a week thanks to heavy duty pain killers and my employer made me manager of the shop so i don't have to do too much heavy work anymore, i just do the exhaust work now and try to keep the other guys on task. planning on getting back on the 69 suburban soon, i've already done the suspension, rear spring hangers from a 72 blazer, crossmembers, axles, running gear, dash and assorted other parts i robbed off my 72 cheyenne 3/4 ton 4x4. need to fire the motor and break it in and put the interior back together. it will have lots of goodies that were supposed to go on the 72 cheyenne-tilt,tach,speedwarning,vacuum,buckets,shoulder belts,am/fm,posi front and rear, and naturally tow hooks.
Randy, glad to see you're still here. all the tow hooks went to a buddy of mine in central cal that has a bunch of trucks, i only have 2 sets of my own.

Good to see you posting again Jerry. Maybe I need to take a break too. I spend more time on here than I do on my trucks...

Thumbs up Re: haven't been here for a while

thanks again everyone, glad to see some "old timers" still here. i wish i could work on my trucks like i used to, it really sucks living in constant pain but when i look around and see someone that's worse off than me i guess it's time to get busy and quit feeling sorry for myself. i just have to take more breaks now and be careful not to screw my back up worse than it is. luckily i got most of the heavy stuff done on the suburban before the operation. i still never figured out how to post pics or i would let you all see the old sub, it was really a butchered up mess when i got it. hopefully i'll have it on the road by the end of summer. i hated scrapping the 72 cheyenne 4x4 but it still lives on in the 69 suburban. will try doing a better job staying in touch with my "truck brothers" in the future.

Re: haven't been here for a while

I feel your pain (seriously). I really dread doing certain things because I know it will hurt. Can't wait to see this Suburban. How's your son? Does he still have El Jay's old Sierra Grande? Can he teach you the picture thing? I was just at that place that makes the apple cider and stuff I sent you.

Re: haven't been here for a while

Glad to see your still alive and kickin' Jerry. Gosh.....its been about 6 or 7 years since i was in California and met you. But oddly enough i was going through my phone the other day and saw your name is still in it. I just started coming back here on a regular basis myself. I don't have a 67-72 anymore. But i have a 49 Chevy panel truck.

Great to see back on the board and helluva alot healthier than the last time we spoke. Also, getting your inner truck spirit back. Well, suburban spirit now. Lost your phone number a couple years back, but I see you got my PMs, I'll give you a call real soon and catch up, I'm on the road now still doing the secret squirrel stuff.

Welcome back Jerry! Remember talking to you several years ago when I was looking for an orginal 71-72 1/2 ton 4x4. I finally found one Craigslist and had it shipped from WA to MD. Hope your health gets better and glad you're back
