has anyone

has anyone done a frame swap on a 67-72 chevy/gmc truck using a 2000 or newer truck or tahoe frame. the tahoe frame wheelbase is 116" and the chevy short bed is 115". might be a good match

If you believe that, what are you waiting for?

Re: has anyone

I deal with both series of trucks everyday. The later while a good idea to have 4 link in the Tahoe rear it is 6 lug with disc brakes[for a while I know the trucks went back to drums in 05] The front still has a steering box not a rack and the frame is just all wrong to work with the 67-72 sheetmetal. I'm sure somebody has tried and may have succeeded but it will include more than just sitting a wrecked body off and then putting a old one on. Jim

Re: has anyone

I don't have any links but there's a few guys here who have done it but the keep the floor and firewall from the Tahoe and graft what's left of the 67-72 cab to the Tahoe fire wall and floor. Lots of work for sure. Honestly not my cup of tea but I can surely appreciate the fab work involved.

Re: has anyone

Jim you are right that this swap has been done. As a matter of fact someone posted pics a couple years ago of a 67 to 72 body on an 88 or so 4wd frame with all running gear. If memory serves me it was said to have been owned by some band member, eddie vanzant maybe? To the op it can be done. How well you want it done depends on how deep your personal skill level and or wallet is.😉

Re: has anyone

i know that someone has done this before, im going to do it im looking for some short cuts
or problems that they might have ran into. everyone said that you could not put an s10
frame under the 47-54 chevy trucks in the beginning but it happens everyday now
