31"x10.5 r15 tires?
Hey,
Is anybody out there running 31" tires on their 2WD SWB? I just picked up a mounted set of Toyo 31"s on rally wheels for use as my winter set and am wondering how the fit is. Currently I have mounted 255 70 r15 Cooper Cobras, which I love. I believe the 31"s are approx 2" taller and am curious how they will look/perform. Any issues to report? If you've got a second, how about sharing a pic or two? Thanks so much guys! BBQ PS Also finally picked up a sport bumper! ![]() |

These were 30x9.5/15 tires on 15x8in wheels with 4in bs. Had no clearance issues.

Re: 31"x10.5 r15 tires?
I'm running 31x10.5 All Terrains and 15x8 alloy wheels on my 2wd swb, stock height. No rubbing, but I don't care for the look of it. Too much tire. These were mounted temporary so it was movabe. Looking at 255/70 instead, but tires aren't what makes it not safe to drive so it'll be a while.
For winter driving, a 235/75 would be a good choice I think. An all terrain tread or a snow tread. The skinny tread will dig right in and they're still 29ish inches tall. |

Re: 31"x10.5 r15 tires?
Nice rigs guys!
Appreciate the feedback. I agree and suspect that the 31"s will be a bit too much tire (looks-wise), but I got such a good deal I just couldn't turn them down - always nice to have another clean set of complete rallys anyway. I also agree that the narrower 235s would bite better in the snow, but we get virtually none where I live - I just want to avoid unnecessary wear and tear on my brand new 255 cobras (which are so awesome). Anyway, thanks again for the help guys, most appreciated as always! |

Re: 31"x10.5 r15 tires?
My Red Ryder project had that size in the rear. Too much flotation for a winter tire in a 2wd. A 235/70/15 performed a ton better.

Re: 31"x10.5 r15 tires?
I was running set on my 92 and swap them onto my 83. It fills the wheel well and adds a little lift, but as bnoon commented it sucks in the snow with the wide foot print.

Re: 31"x10.5 r15 tires?
Been running 31's on my 78 since 1986 and my 85 since 1999. Very happy with them, no rubbing, etc. Both trucks are 2wd long beds.
