What is this bracket for??

I pulled this bracket off swearing I didn't need to label the bag it was in, it's unique so I should remember where it goes I told myself. Well...... I'm lost. I know it goes on the drivers' side, and it appears to be something for the parking brake, but I'm lost as to where or what it does. I tried lining up the holes on various parts of the frame with no luck. It's from a 69 2wd short bed.

Re: What is this bracket for??

Is that a guess or an answer?

Auto linkage bracket would make sense, the truck originally came with a TH350, and the PO switched it to a 700r4 and never reused this bracket, just hacked some mechanical linkage to work together.

Re: What is this bracket for??

Way off Michael. Like I said I have a relative location, but I need to know the exact function of the bracket so I don't discard it. I appreciate the guesses, but they don't get me the answer.

Re: What is this bracket for??

Sure looks like the auto linkage support, but it is not year correct. Looks like it is off a later model truck (79-80 ish) that was retro fitted. Anywhere on the frame up by the shifting mechanism that the bolt holes line up on?

BINGO!!!! Thanks guys! As per this link,
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=642401 it appears to be from the 73-87 chevy trucks, for the shift linkage. Thanks again, it fits all my assumptions about where my trans came from.
