Three issues before my rebuilt inspection
Since I pull my truck right out of the junk yard, it has a junking certificate of a vehicle. Not a original title for registration. In order to register the truck I need to apply for a rebuilt title. This requires a state inspection where everything must work. I have three issues to solve before then
1) no backup lights 2) no working fuel gauge 3) no horn I have install a new dash harness, tail lamp harness, and fuel gauge wire. Fuel gauge is pegged way past full and no clue what to do. The horn I think just needs a new contact spring. (Beeps if I ground contact) The backup lamps may just need a new switch on the 4-speed trans to fix.

Re: Three issues before my rebuilt inspection
If I jump the connector on the trans switch, the back up lights work. I guess this means I just need a new trans switch.
I believe I have the answer to two of my issues, but still no clue on the fuel gauge pegged at 3:00 o'clock.

Re: Three issues before my rebuilt inspection
Alrighty then, I just cleaned the pin on the tank sending unit and my fuel gauge now works.
So I just need to buy a new trans back up lamp switch and horn contact spring and I'm good to go for my inspection.

Re: Three issues before my rebuilt inspection
90% of all electrical problems are a grounding problem.

Re: Three issues before my rebuilt inspection
years ago when we did vehicle inspections here in SC, in order to pass I hooked up a toggle switch to the backup lites. When inspector said put in R Id shift and flip switch. Worked for yrs. Now a mute point here.
