Kick Panel Speakers - anyone have them?
One of the suppliers on the site has new kick panels with built-in speakers. Does anyone have these? I would like to know how they sound. Thanks!

I dunno, but I priced out a set of panels with out the speakers, and adding two 6.5 kenwoods that can push 160w. It works out about $20 cheaper to go that way than buy the panels with the speakers, and you get an extra 20w of power.

I have them, I love them actually but then again, I had a pair of kenwood house speakers laying on the trans hump before I installed them.

Doors cut
I wish the previous owner had gotten them. Instead he just cut out an oval in each door for a 6X9. Ugh.

custom auto sound
Yeah, they're designed to work with the custom auto sound radios. I have them and the dual voice coil 5 x 7 in the dash. It's kind of tinny sounding, but I don't have an amp yet or any sound deadening.
good luck, Scott

How do they install? Do you drill into the kick panel and screw them in? Or do they attach some other way?

I have them. I bought the pods from Wes and put in a pair of 6 1/2" Pioneers. They supposedly are held in by the weatherstripping, but I drilled two holes underneath the weatherstripping (that way you can't see the screws) and one right behind the speaker. I didn't want them flapping around when I turn corners.

I bought them with the custom autosound speakers in them. I wasn't too impressed with the quality of either. The speakers sounded like crap...i ripped them out after a week and put on some Xplod 6.5" speakers and they sound much better.
However, i have the dual Kenwood underdash speakers and i am pretty impressed with them. They sound really good for how small they are. Anyway, if i were to do it agian i would just cut holes in the doors. $70 for two sheets of cheap plastic w/o speakers or $120 w/speakers is a rip off IMO. But if you really don't want to cut your doors, they will work pretty good.
