New crossmember in my 48. Is it strong enough?
Hello gentlemen, I'm building a 48 Chevy 3100. I just had a new center crossmember made, wondering if I need to add any more support. I boxed the frame in over the front rear shackle mounts. So they have plenty of support and strength. What I am wondering is, should I add some diagonal braces from where I boxed the frame in over the front rear shackle mounts to the new center crossmember? The reason I am wondering this is the original had that gusset brace in it. Thank you in advance for any of your comments or suggestions.

Assuming you trial fit the drive line to make sure you have enough room to get it in and out from underneath, and the other holes are for exhaust it looks good.

Yes, the driveline is installed and it fits beautifully. And those holes are for the exhaust system. No Duramax, wouldn't mind a Cummings. It's got that 350 in it which is putting out about 350 horse.

The only thing I might think about adding is a pair of tubes running back to the frame from close to the center in somewhat of a K to brace it a bit to keep things square.
