spindle help plese

I need some help with a spindle problem . I ordered drop spindles for 73-87 1 1/4" rotors and the ones I got don't fit my ball joints and the caliper mount is only 1 3/4" wide....My stock caliper mounts are 2 1/4" wide. did I receive spindles for 1" rotors? can anyone confirm the caliper mount width for either roters on these year 1/2 ton trucks. Thanks guys

Re: spindle help plese

Are you using 73-87 ball joints?

73-87 Spindles require 73-87 balljoints and outer tie rods.
What brand and part number did you buy?

Re: spindle help plese

Your control arms are typical of a '63-'72 C10. The '71-'72 C10's have a lower ball joint that is specific to those 2 years only. Did your truck already have front disc brakes, or drum brakes?

Re: spindle help plese

It had disk . I was told the cross member was from a 86. so much for that. The rubber lines are on a bracket on the front of the cross member so thats where I thought 71-72. The tie rods are 11\16 but the taper seems small and it was loose in the drop spindle. thanks for the input capt. I'll keep reading and searching. I'm going to try and return these and make sure I get the right ones next time.

That is a 71--72 crossmember if the factory brake hose bracket is on the front side of the crossmember.
71-72 UPPER balljoints and OUTER tie rods are specific to the 71-72 spindle.
YOU have 73-87 spindles.
The LOWER ball joints are the same from 71 thru 87.
So you will need to change your UPPER balljoint and outer tie rods to the 73-87 version.
Easy fix to add your 73-87 spindles.

Re: spindle help plese

Sorry for the misinformation on the balljoints. I've never worked with the '71-'72's just the '73+87's
