Just bought a 1971 GMC 1500
I just picked up this truck yesterday and thought I'd share it with you guys.
Its a 1971 GMC c1500 lwb. Its got a 350 and th350 trans, AC, PS, PB. Has the factory tinted windows and maybe some other stuff if I look at the SPID closer. Showing 43,000 miles on the odometer, which I believe is probably correct, though it has had a well done repaint at some point. I have a 72 C20 that has been my DD but really wanted to find a nicer replacement and I think I've found it. Only thing I really need to do to this truck is put a radio in it and get a set of the p01 wheel covers for it since they're listed on the SPID and I like how they look, then it'll be about perfect to just drive. I'll get some more pictures of everything tomorrow but for now just kinda wanted to show off haha. |

Re: Just bought a 1971 GMC 1500
Wow very nice example......sort of looks like a short wheel base from the front.
No matter, always nice to see more of these trucks pop up and available out there. What sort of a radio are you looking to put in it? Coley

Thank you! It was down in Maryville. The funny thing was I saw it for sale on craigslist a few months back for 5900 and wondered why it sat for about a month before someone bought it. Anyway I finally sold a car I was trying to sell when this came back up for sale from a guy who wanted a 4x4 instead. He had fixed a couple things wrong with it that he said were the reasons it took so long to sell before, he fixed the fuel gauge sender, put a new steering wheel on it, flushed the breaks, and fixed something that was wrong with the turn signals. To make a long story short, I paid 6k for it. |

Nice clean original truck, just the way I like them. You are right P01's will look super on your truck. Did the same with mine, removed the dog dishes and put on P01's , made a big difference in the truck.

Great looking ride. I love the GMC front ends, and that's a super color combo!

Re: Just bought a 1971 GMC 1500
Thanks guys, really don't have too many plans, change the hubcaps, put a radio in it, and looks like it'll probably need new tires soon. Long term I might pick up a sport bumper for the rear to replace the step bumper, it could use a new tailgate band and maybe run duel exhaust on it. I never realized how quiet one of these trucks could be, nothing like my c20 with old glasspacks. Anyway none of that really matters right now, just wanting to start driving it. also heres some more pics

Re: Just bought a 1971 GMC 1500
That is a real cool truck. One thing please change that glass fuel filter! A friend of mine had one of those on a street rod, it cracked from vibrating and the real nice 32 Ford coupe went up in flames.
