Tank conversion.
Guys, there are a bunch of threads requarding this. Some of the previous build links have been moved or removed.
Does anyone have an article on exactly needs to be done to complete this? How much of the wood bed brace needs to be removed, is it ok to use hose or is hard line better? Will the stock pump pull the fuel from that distance or does it need to be replaced? Any insight is appreciated.. Posted via Mobile Device |

hard line is definitely better than rubber hose that tends to burn that truck to the ground
the stock pump worked fine on a couple of million suburbans that rolled off the production lines in the past 50-60 years

Should hard line be used up the frame rail with a short (12") rubber line for connection to the tank and connected into the old line or run one entirely new piece to the pump?

Hi,
So for the hard line or braided line..... I changed mine to a braided nylon rapped 3/8 rubber fuel line and have had no issues, I've also not heard about many people having issues. It does cost about $125-150 if your tank is mounted under the bed of the truck (short bed). I think hard lines are way cheaper, so if you already have the hard line then using a small piece of rubber hose at either end is not a problem, that's how all the trucks were done anyway. If you are running a hard line then run a complete new one with the rubber 12". just my thoughts. Good luck and have fun. |

Member the engine moves, it rocks from engine torque. Steel lines don't, so run a flexible line from the pump out to the hard line. Engine fires suck!
