Calling sacramento area members...

Could really use a favor - I am looking closely at a truck in sac, but it's potentially one of those shady cl deals - the kind you can't tell if it's real or too good to be true. We've already agreed on a price, but having difficulty getting the guy to agree to a payment method. I can't ascertain that I'm dealing with an older gent that is just technology-phobic or a 13 y/o pimple nosed scammer who is about to walk with the money I want to spend on the truck. He doesn't want a deposit, just wants me to send the money. Yes fishy - but he's clearly an older guy that just likes old fashioned transactions - his son listed the truck on cl for him and he doesn't do paypal, holding/transfer thingys, etc.. He did tell me I'm welcome to fly out and look at it, but it's not drivable, at least not all the way to TX. IF I could confirm the truck exists, and the seller isn't 13, I'd send the amount and then follow-up with the shipper. If anyone is in the vicinity and might have a few spare moments to confirm the guy and truck are for real, I'd appreciate it. If too busy - completely understand. Thanks gents, hate to ask, but hoping to close the deal on this thing.

Also open to suggestions as to how you all have worked around this stuff in the past. I've normally sent a hefty deposit in exchange for a transferred title, which, when I received it - I sent the balance. Then the shipper would go grab it. But, with out a deposit, kinda feel like I'm about to get ether bunnied by this dude if I send the full check...

What's not old fashioned about paying a deposit? It doesn't get any more old school than that. I hope it all works out, with help from a fellow member

Re: Calling sacramento area members...

Hey guys, I was planning on going to the state fair this weekend but my daughter and son in law decided to split up yesterday. Now I'm going to stay home and referee. I forwarded th PM that Jocko sent me to Saclandman in hopes that he can help out. If he can't Jocko will still need a volunteer. Sorry about this but seems life got in the way again.

That truck sounds like it could be a keeper. I found the ad for it and that color is pretty cool. I can't wait to hear whether you get it or not.

Re: Calling sacramento area members...

Took a look at the truck today. The seller and truck are legit. Nice guy. I'd buy it if I could. Spid matches door plate. Little bit of rust at bottom front of pass. fender and a bit of scaling at the kick panel on pass. side. Otherwise clean. I'll post pics as soon as I can.

Re: Calling sacramento area members...

Thanks Rich, really appreciate you taking a look at it for me. Yes, I've gone square, but don't worry, still have the 72 C20 to tinker with as well. Thank you also to the folks that jumped on the offer to take a look, I really appreciate that also.

And the biggest thanks goes to SSTim - he knew what I was looking for - I've been looking for a K20 for a looong time, and found this little beaut for me. Many thanks Tim!

Its always a good sign when a square-body doesn't have a fold in the hood.
