WIW all original 1968 c20

all original nice interior surface rust on bottom 6 inches of the truck. 307 3spd coil springs all around. 45k original miles. cab in good shape with no rot just some surface rust on rockers. no rot under the battery. could use trailing arms as they have some puffy rust between the layers but not gone yet and frame needs to be wire wheeled and painted as its surface rusty. whats it worth if I get it running and driving. not looking to sell but want an opinion before I buy incase an emergency comes up.

any input is appreciated. I know we don't find trucks not rotted to death out here in the east every day

Re: WIW all original 1968 c20

I would put it around $5500-$6500 if you take care of a few things on it.
I would find and mount the missing trim on the box. Then give it a very good detailing including: H.Duty cut polish, underhood detailing w/ correct air cleaner, interior...and here is very good one:.....repaint the wheel rims white....this will really make the appearance pop.
These simple and inexpensive tasks would add a lot of visual and price value to the truck in my opinion.
Its a nice truck for sure but a few things work to keep the pricing down including the base model element (low option), 3/4 ton (1/2 tons can bring more).
If you take the time and money to do some stock upgrades like adding power steering, power brakes....maybe an original style automatic...it will attract a wider choice of buyers because of the improved driveability factor.
If it was mine, I would do the detailing, definitely keep it....and enjoy the heck out of it...nice truck!
Anywhooo...thats just my take on it but again it is a nice truck for sure.

That's pretty clean for New Jersey , We used to buy them in your area(Morris county ) in the mid 70's for $ 800.00 -1,000.00 and use them to do tree work and haul firewood until they died and we go buy another one . I'd say if the trailing arms are going the rest of the truck underneath is probably just as bad . $3,000.00 would be my opinion being a long bed C-20 ...

Maybe $3g if a daily driver. I'd say the rust is going to more than what's visible though.

I like the look as it sits for a classic period correct look. I agree that an air cleaner and fresh paint on the wheels would help. As others have said its not too bad for a new jersey truck. When I was in Michigan I saw a lot worse shape trucks.

Mike16 is right, those hubcaps and steel wheels are very rare!
I spent a lot of time, energy, and money collecting the ones for my '68 C-20

Re: WIW all original 1968 c20

there is more too that rust than what your seeing there. the door corner will have a hole if cleaned up.
I learned this the hard way those specks of rust could be holes allready formed sometimes they are tough too tell.

how are the inner rockers?

its hard too judge by the few pics but overall it certainly looks like a great truck it looks pretty much untouched with the oe air cleaner laying on the floor.and i'm sure with the vintage cap on it the bed floor looks great.

beware the master cly clasp is off.
also it being 68 i think the wheels might have been silver.

i would clean it up as stated and keep it excatly the way it is. just a good freshening.
awesome find though in nj.

too the right person i would say somewhere around 4-5 bennys

i never understand why they list "rear shock absorber" on the spid. kinda like having shocks was a option.
