Spark plugs

I have a 78 C10 Custom Deluxe Truck, I know there are many kinds of sparkplugs. Does anybody have a preference as to which ones work the best? Thanks, Al

Re: Spark plugs

SBC or BBC?

For a '78 SBC, recommended is ACDelco R45TS.

Another choice is the Autolite 24. That is what all the dirt track racers around here use in SBCs. They are a little less prone to oil fouling than the ACDelco's, so you can run a slightly colder plug (like the 24) without problems. Hotter plugs burn off oil fouling, but going too hot causes detonation problems, so running a cooler plug with less tendency to oil foul is nice.

I am currently running ACDelco R45TS in my '78 SBC, but will probably try the Autolites next go-round.

Re: Spark plugs

I have found no difference in spark plugs. I use spark plugs which I get for free (with mail in rebate.) Mostly, these are Champion single platinum plugs. These are usually available on Black Friday after Thanksgiving at the parts stores or watch their weekly ads.
