Posi Install, rigth axle to far out of housing

Hello!
I have installed a new posi in my 69 truck. I noticed when I was sliding my drum brakes on the axles a bigger gap on the right axle then on the left axle. I can get my finger tip between the drum and the brakeshield. The left side sits perfect. Have anyone seen this before? I cant remember 100% but I dont think it was like this with the old carrier.
C-clips looks good and everything else is just fine.
Its a eaton posi with 3.08 gears.
Would you guys run it like this??

Did you notice any difference in the length of the axles? If the C-clips are both seated, it sounds like you have two different length axles.... Sometime in 1971 GM started using a wider rear end and the axles are 3/4 inch longer. I wonder if someone replaced one of your axles and not knowing the difference used one of the later axles.... I don't think I would run it that way.

I think the axles are the same size but i could make sense what you are saying. I forgot too tell that the posi was from an el camino, dont know what year tho. the posi is not factory but aftermarket.

But if I am going to run it like this i would have too adjust the axle to center of the truck, so if the one axle is 5mm to far out I will have too move it 2,5 mm too the left, and then it sits in center of the truck. I think it will work, its not like its a dragster.. lol

I thought El Caminos used car axles and not truck axles. I think they use different differential cases.

That I dont know.. Maybe they fitted a truck axle on the elco? The posi fitts the truck axle and everything matches. I dont know what the diffrence between the car 12bolt and the truck 12bolt, anyone?

The El Camino housing and carrier are indeed a "Car 12-Bolt"...That's not a bad thing and in fact is a good thing but will not interchange with truck axles or components... The first image is a car 12 and the second image is a truck 12. Car has a horizontal eyebrow on the cover and the truck 12 has a vertical bulge in the cover...

sometimes when your ina bind and you need a replacement axle other axles will do in a pinch.

maybe the axle was replaced with an axle from a newer truck. they are wider?.

I run into the same problem with chevelle 12 bolts rears the 67 and older ones are narrower and it was common to find the 68 and later ones that are wider being installed maybe in a pinch or in ignorance.

maybe latter axles are wider but fit only so so.

maybe in a pinch you go for an Enfield inch.
