1963 California Black license plates

Have a set of 1963 California black and yellow license plates. UVX 213, have both.
One has a Bob Bozzani VW plate cover on it and is in very good condition, the other, is in ok usable shape. Prices for a set on ebay vary from $150 up to $750 for a pristine NOS set. Would like these to find a nice home on a members truck. Open to offers.

Re: 1963 California Black license plates

You've got a pair of car plates, which you couldn't register on a truck in California. The car plates are always three letters_space_3 numbers, as yours are. The truck plates are all numbers except for one letter. The letter was found either in the first digit or the last digit of the plate.

I don't want to be the bearer of bad news. Actually, your plates are still just as valuable and perfect for someone restoring a car. Out here, there are more guys looking for car plates versus truck plates. I think you'll no problem selling them, I just needed to let you know that the DMV won't register them on a truck. Our DMV is a huge revenue generator, and they love to tell you that you're hosed!

No prob registering those plates on a Suburban (I've done it), or sometimes even a pickup with a camper or shell "permanently" attached. just sayin

DMV cleared pairs are where the money is. Singles cannot be registered, no matter how nice the condition. Good decoration though.

That VW frame might be worth something too.

This isn't ebay. You need to set a price here.

I got popped back in the late '80s driving a truck with car plates. No camper shell. I bought it that way, and the DMV never even questioned it when the truck was registered in my name. A sharp cop did, though. I went to traffic court and the judge said, "Ignorance is no excuse". I had to pay the fine and get new plates.

The camper shell or Suburban is definitely a way to use those plates.

Please post a price per forum rules.

Have you checked to see if these are cleared out of the DMV? A phone call will answer that question.

Wouldn't be able to park in the yellow zones though.. best thing about commercial plates if you live in the city
