Air bags and brake hoses.
Whats up guys? I just got done running all the brake lines on the 72 this weekend. But when I let it off the stands and layed it out the front brake hoses were stretched tight and would not allow me to turn. Has anyone else had this problem? Where can I get some longer brake hoses. This is all on a 72 with stock disk brakes and new brake hoses from LMC.

I'm not questioning your mechanical aptitude, but are you sure evrything is routed correctly?
Although I don't currently have bags on the front of my 74, when I was setting up the ride height during the front suspension rebuild, I used bags to make it easier for adjustments. I had no prob's w/the stock length flex brake lines in the factory position w/the truck aired out. I did have to rotate one of the tabs that are used to secure the hose to the upper a-arm 180deg though. It also required the typical 'tweaking' of the hard line where it bolts to the caliper to get better clearance w/drop spindles.

As far as I know it is routed correctly. They are running to the tabs at the front (bumper) side of the main crossmember where they meet the hardlines. Let me know if this is not the proper position. Thanks

try inline tube for some steel braided lines i think the kit is 110.00 front and rearthey are a little longer than stock and yes with bags they do get a little stretched when you lay em out!

I ran my 68's lines to the hole in the frame just like the later 73 & up models which might be the difference.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was looking at the stainless brake hoses anyways so I may just go that route. Any other opinions? Anyone have the stainless hoses that can give me a lenth? Thanks

I have the stainless lines from Inline tube and they are barely long enough. I had to move the mounting tabs out a little to make up some slack (I had room to bend the hard lines outward a little). I modified my cross member so I had to re-weld the tabs on anyway. Mine mount at the front of the cross member also. I'm sure you could get some longer lines, just not sure where.

Anyone have an idea where to get longer hoses from? A crossover from another year truck? Or an aftermarket source? Thanks.

Try your nearest 4wd place. Lifted trucks usually have similar problems.
