69 4x4 front brake conversion
Is anyone aware of a disc brake conversion kit for a 69 4x4? I have the inner fenders off and it seems like the perfect time to convert.

Ya they are in junkyards everywhere... Probably gonna have to swap the axle. I'm not aware of any kits to disk it. Any gm axle from 71-87 will bolt in and have disks on it.

That is what I did bought a Dana 44 out of a 72 4x4 for $300 and bolted it in. I also got the master cylinder and distrubition block from the same truck

Re: 69 4x4 front brake conversion
Good advice above. Get a complete front axle from a later model truck with same gear ratio as your truck. If you have an unusual gear ratio (3.55 or 4.56 were uncommon in disc brake trucks but out there.) you may have to swap gears as well. There are no conversion kits that I've seen for the open knuckle axle but jeep guys do it all the time so it may be possible.
But they are leak and have a crappy turning radius so I would highly recommend the open knuckle discs brake axle as a huge improvement.

Re: 69 4x4 front brake conversion
Very little info offered by OP. Only that you want disc brakes up front. But, If you are considering a swap and plan to go through the axle at time of swap; you may consider a Dana60. You should look into the differences of 44 vs 60 and depending on what you are planning for the vehicle and your price tolerances you have choices! Both 44 and 60 are bolt in swaps. But you are more likely to find 4.56 in the 60. Do your research now, this site has plenty of info in the 4X4 section. The upgrade kit is an axle swap, like everyone said; It's the easiest route.... but the expense is in cleaning up junk axle and/or bullet proofing options... whether 60 or 44.
Quickest and easiest = get a 44 with same gears, pull the residual pressure valve out of front drum reservoir and call it a day!

Re: 69 4x4 front brake conversion
jeffahart has assumed you have a 3/4 ton 8 lug truck and I have assumed you have a 1/2 ton 6 lug truck. But as noted, you should provide more info about what you are working on.
