Bed repair panels

Does anyone repop the rear lower bed repair panel for the short bed? I haven't been able to find one so I bought one for a long bed and removed some of the middle, welded it up and attempted to install it. It looks like crap though and the splash shield doesn't even come close to lining up

Re: Bed repair panels

I just checked, and they don't specify whether the panel is long or short bed, but just going from their photo, they appear to be long bed panels. I bought long bed panels to do both sides of my bed and have everything all welded in place only to find I most likely will need to redo both. That is why I was hoping for correct panels. They would have to fit better than the mickey moused long bed panels

Re: Bed repair panels

Does anyone know for sure that these short bed repair panels are not repoped? Has anyone needed to repair their swb bed? I need to redo the attempted repair that I did using the long bed panel. It is so far off that I have no choice but to buy another long bed panel and attempt the repair again, unless anyone knows of a place that does sell the rear lower panel for a swb?

Mar-K has them. I'm 99% sure. I'll look for a part number.

Not sure if this is what you need or if you're looking for the patch behind the rear tire. If that's the case then I too have only seen LWB. I just cut what I needed and gave away the rest. I needed that edge right behind the tire and a buddy needed the back corner behind the bumper.

Tractor Supply has 16 gauge sheets you might be able to just make a piece to fit perfectly (?)

Re: Bed repair panels

That's good to know Tim. I'm kind of surprised these haven't been repoped yet. Seems like it's a much needed item. I was about to go pick up 2 more of the longbed panels today and give it another shot. I figured for $20 each, I'll give it another shot but now I just may hold off until your release. My truck certainly isn't going to be road worthy before Spring

Will your have the correct tail light stamping where they wrap around to the rear? The longbed ones aren't even close

Here's what I am referring to. This is original

This is the repoped panel. My driver side is good in this area, but passenger side was smashed and rusted

Re: Bed repair panels

Tim, could you give me a heads up when panels are in the ready to ship phase?
flameout@gmail.com

I'll most likely hold out for your panels ather than trying again to make the longbed panels fit

Re: Bed repair panels

The ones we are making are not ready yet this does take a little time and ours will have the correct details around back. I will let every one know when we get the test fit sample.

Re: Bed repair panels

Flameout,
You might want to reconsider your approach on this. I was in the same situation (I have a LWB). I wanted to replace the section behind the rear wheel well and ordered L&R lower section from one of the big repop vendors. When they arrived it took me about a minute to figure out that that junk will never be on my truck. What I did was start searching for an original bed or bed sides. I even searched for a "cut out". I did find two bed sides in MD that were in VG condition and they are painted and on the truck now. PM me if you want, concerning my old bed sides (actually two pair now plus whats on the truck). I'm in Carlisle, PA. The biggest problem I saw with the repop was that the detail around the wheel well was missing (the small bead rolled around the wheel well opening was not there). It sounds like on your parts some details are missing at the back corner.

Any updates on these short bed repair panels? I ended up just buying a complete repop short bed, but I still would like to repair my original bed

I got one from classic parts of america, in Riverside, MO. Cost like $70.00
The only bad thing was it doesn't have the tail light housing frame on it, so, if you need that part, better look for a used bedside to get that from. Also, these come with an "anti-corrosion"
coating on them, make sure you wipe it off with some paint thinner or brake parts cleaner right away, mine had a "wave"in it that was hidden by the dirt/coating my body guy had to dolly that down while blocking the bedside.otherwise, it worked great.

Re: Bed repair panels

Thanks for those links. I was hoping someone repoped just the lower portion, as they do for the longbed.Similar to this panel, but for the shortbed fleetside

Just wondering if there are any updated on the productiion of thise swb lower rear panels. I have purchased a complete short bed kit, but my original bed is in pretty decent shape other than those lower rear panel (which I prematurely already cut off) so if I can repair that area, I'll have another complete short bed
