Frame Brace for 70 2wheel drive
So here's the deal I need a steering box frame brace kit for my 70 C10 I've called around to several shop's but everyone that I've called only makes them for a 4 wheel drive BUT they do make one for a 73 two wheel drive. My question is does anyone know if the 70 and 73 are the same in this area will the 73 setup work on my 70? The reason I need one of these is because after getting my frame PC I noticed a crack around one of the holes where the steering box mounts up.. SUCKS!!!
Thanks Rich Last edited by Richie209; 09-23-2015 at 08:40 PM. |

Re: Frame Brace for 70 2wheel drive
Another reason for frame paint VS powdercoat , but that doesn't help you now I know that is salt in the wound. OK the steering box mounts the same in fact we know for sure that the box will bolt on all the way up to the end of the square[87 for truck and 91 for the Blazer , Suburban]. so with that being said i don't see any reason for the 73 brace not to work. Well there are thousands of trucks that have had that newer crossmember bolted in it is a bolt in swap I'm just guessing that it won't be a problem to use the later bracket.

Re: Frame Brace for 70 2wheel drive
UPDATED.. 73 brace will not work, front most crossmember for the 67-72 is different and the bracket won't work with out having to modify it.. So I'm just gonna take it to a local shop and have them weld the frame and fabricate a bracket for me..
