1987 SWB 4x4 Idling Super High
Building a truck for my son. I'm slowly but surely knocking out one problem after another thanks to all the help here on this forum. Getting real close to getting it finished up. The issue now is that it is idling super high. Any ideas as to why this might be and where to start looking.

Vacuum leak is the first thing I would look for.
Then I would check the IAC and the CTS. |

Re: 1987 SWB 4x4 Idling Super High
We use carb cleaner to check for leaks. Spray it around the base of the throttle body and all vacuum connections. If the idle drops you found the leak. It could also be a bad brake booster leaking internally. If you hear it from inside the cab you know it is a bad booster. Fuel injected engines will just add fuel if they get extra air and will present as a high idle.
