so there are a couple of videos on yt of people buying knockoff projectors and fitting a real one. The lighting from those look awesome. Has anyone tried this?

Re: retrofit projectors
Some people have made their own projector lights http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s....php?p=5829925 ,The gray area is adding hids to anything that didn't have them stock is illegal in most states. But for most hids are overkill a set of good h4 housings and the headlight harness with the relays will be a lot brighter then the stock headlights.Or if you got the money they make led headlights now http://www.jwspeaker.com/

Re: retrofit projectors
I did a retrofit on my daily driver ('02 Suburban), and will make a set for my truck whenever I'm at that point . It's not difficult, and the results are far superior to a sealed beam or any type of bulb conversion. I've never gotten any hassle from the law, and it passes inspection regularly.
Are they legal? Technically not, but they attract less attention than an HID plug-n-play kit in a regular headlight. Blind a cop with those and you're probably more likely to get pulled over. My wife has followed me at night in the Burb and it never blinded me one time. |

Re: retrofit projectors
Yeah throwing a hid kit in a none projector housing will blind people and get you pulled over fast.On the newer stuff the police don't know if its factory or not but most stuff didn't get them tell the mid 90s,And the more common cars got them the last 10 years or so.

Re: retrofit projectors
Yeah I can tell you first hand you will get a ticket with hids in a non projector headlight, I had them in my 09 z71 now I've got a 15 sierra with factory projectors and they suck btw.
