Speedo and gauge repair

I have a 1970 Chevy C-10 longbed that I purchased a couple of months ago. I am in the process of rejuvenating it. Some of the gauges are not working such as the tach, temp and battery charging level. Is anyone aware of someplace that repairs this gauges??? Advice and suggestions are appreciated

Re: Speedo and gauge repair

^^ tbone does and I've never heard a complaint! You may want to investigate why those gauges don't work. You may find its not the gauges at all, but missing/mismatched sender, no speedo cable or not lubed, no power to the gauge cluster.

Re: Speedo and gauge repair

Thank you for the suggestions, I might just buy the entire bezel with gauges, since the ones that are working seem to be weak. Better to start off fresh...

Re: Speedo and gauge repair

I've seen them in the LMC and Orange County Truck Shop catalogs. I've also seen them on Ebay. Please let me know if you find any place else??

I'm not sure what weak is. the Tach and temp gauges work or don't. I would spend a little time to get them working, and clean it up a bit.

I think your original will probably be better quality than a stock reproduction replacement.

Thumbs up Re: Speedo and gauge repair

I get everything for my 69 C20 at www.classicparts.com. They carry everything you could possibly want. Every little nut and bolt you need, they supply it.

Re: Speedo and gauge repair

I have a nice one I re-did years ago that I have been running up until last week until I upgraded to a Dakota Digital VHX setup, so I don't need it anymore. It's all cleaned up and ready to go. Has silver face but can be put back to black pretty easily (they are only decals). In the parts for sale section.

Re: Speedo and gauge repair

I believe there are a couple of wires in the wiring harness connector that has to be switched for a tach cluster to work in a truck that did not originally have a tach dash. If this is the case with your truck it might have something to do with your gauges not working. It would be worth investigating before throwing down good money for another gauge set only to find it doesn't work either.
Just a thought.
If I'm not mistaken the necessary info for a gauge upgrade is listed in one of our FAQ sections.

Members Vettevet and others should see this and be of more help than I.
