Talk about dumb luck ..... Did my usual search on ebay and these popped up. Ive
never found another set so I started to submit a "best offer" but realized I should just cowboy
up. Think it's a great deal. I'm stoked ,need them for my 72 K10

Re: NOS west coast jr mirrors

aren't those DG4 below eyeline mirrors? i.e. not WC jr's.
They are my favorite mirror on these trucks - perfect look. I do like the WC mirrors also though, but these are the best imo. Closely followed by the massive camper mirrors (they grew on me when I had em....)

That's the common belief. However, the DG4s on my early '69 are listed on the SPID as West Coast Juniors. I think the name was carried over on the SPIDS from 1968 at least for most of '69 and perhaps into 1970. Might make an interesting poll question. See my SPID and the options list on the original purchase agreement below. However, your comment is correct for 1972 DG4s.

Beautiful mirrors!!! Looks like they sold for a best offer price.

Re: NOS west coast jr mirrors

Im the buyer. Paid the $195 for them. Needed them for my 72 K10. I felt like it was a
great buy since I've been looking for several years. My truck had this mirror set up in white.

I have those on mine now. I have access to another set that has white frames that was originally on my truck that dad is using until he installs his sport mirrors

Re: NOS west coast jr mirrors

Congratulations on finding the mirrors you've been looking for that wee listed wrong by the year and name at a bargain N.O.S. price!

The common belief that these are Below Eyeline mirrors is correct for '72. They are different from 69-71. The change was to make the larger mirrors more compact and not block vision so bad (which has always been the problem with west coasts). Gm calling the 69-71s Jr. West Coast is a misnomer, as they bare no resemblance to actual west coast mirrors. The ones they called Jr RV in '68 and earlier would have be more accurately named west coast jrs because that is actually what they are. I guess since they were a new design in '69 and they already used the RV jr. name, that would have better suited them, they grabbed the west coast name to avoid confusion with the prior mirrors... which didn't work

Re: NOS west coast jr mirrors

The below-the-eyeline types were necessary from '69MY on because the K/5s had no upper window frame to bolt into.
I love my old West Coast Jr's on my '68 Stepside. They were the perfect Cop-Spotters, at least before RADAR.
My '71 Jimmy's PO put on Square Body rear view mirrors. I hated them at first, and wanted to switch to period correct ''below-the-eyelines'' but after a while the square body mirrors grew on me -- maybe it's the 4:3 aspect ratio I grew up with watching TV. They are also below-the-eyeline.

I tried to brighten the image, but it's still a little tough to read. I'd also like to have a clear copy of this. I've pieced together below eyeline mirrors for my 72 K10 and just guessed to the correct installation

Y'know, I think I have a pair of those very ones on my old '67 K/10 Suburban:"WhiteFang". I always thought they were aftermarket, but for a '67, they were. I think a PO put on a lot of light towing accessories on it.

Re: NOS west coast jr mirrors

GM sold mirror "kits" in their accessory program. But, looks like tose are aftermarket. The top arm is the give-away. GM mirrors had all arms made of tube and the aftermarkey versions used strap stock for the top one.

Yup. Flat top arm. So they are aftermarket after all.
The "fish eye" on the top drivers side miror vibrated something fierce - so I stabilized it with a section of EMT and flattened- and drilled holes thru the ends.
Of course that killed the below-the-eyeline look, but at the time I was already used to 20 years of West Coast Jrs.

Re: NOS west coast jr mirrors

Does anybody have a higher-resolution copy of the installation sheet?

Or, at the very least, does anybody have the measurements for the locations of the mounting holes?

This style has shorter arms than the ones on my '70. Is that something that is model year specific?

Yes, these are '72-only. The 69-71s had longer lower arms and the top arm bends down where it screws to the door. The elbow the head attached to is taller but the head is the same

Here's a link to a thread where I posted some things I've discovered about the evolution of the DG4 mirrors. See posts 11, 13, 14, and 15 for more info and pictures.

Re: NOS west coast jr mirrors

Without any real measurements, I just eyeballed it last night. Looks great, and it's so nice having decent size mirrors (instead of the sport mirrors that the PO installed).

The top bolt, next to the vent window, is a real ***** getting the nut on inside. Should have done it before I put the door together, but oh well.
