Another 86 K10 grille swap question

This is the grill set up my truck currently has (this isn't my truck exactly). I really want to go with the single or dual headlight setup like what most 86s have on them. What all do I need to do so? Is single vs dual easier? Any input appreciated.

Re: Another 86 K10 grille swap question

I just did a 89 conversion on my 86 quad headlight.

I bought a complete front cap

Everything bolts the same. You do need the wiring harness and radiator support. One dark blue wire from your factory harness splices into the 2 on the burb front end. And one light blue wire splices into 2 light blue on the burb front end. Everything else is color matched

Sorry misread you message. You will need the wiring harness for the dual stacked headlights. Everything should color match

Re: Another 86 K10 grille swap question

I'm not a fan of these headlights and grilles. They resemble the other body style trucks and burbs too much and honestly that's my most hated style unless done right! Those styles are for work trucks, previous years (80s) have more hot rod feel to them. That's just my .02 though.

I have dual headlights and I love them.

I guess I should have been more clear lol The grille pic above is what my truck currently is. I want to go back to other style. Either the single headlights or the dual headlights.

Re: Another 86 K10 grille swap question

You will need the core support for the style/year you are wanting to install, wire harness, grill, trim... The core supports are all bolt in and they all mount up the same. The single or dual headlights should be dictated by the trim level of your truck. Custom deluxe had single head lights. Silverado had dual. When shopping around for the core support, try to find one (used original) that has the most parts still on it. I had a hard time finding the correct springs for the headlight buckets. After market core supports are not anywhere as good as the originals and don't always fit correctly without some tweaking.

The change out is not difficult but it will take several hours to complete. Maybe longer if you have to deal with rusted bolts. If you can't find an original wire harness "GMACHINZ" on this forum sells new ones and they are excellent quality and a direct replacement.
