Need engine advice.
I have a 2 bolt main 70's 350 that was given to me from my father. It came out of our t bucket hot rod. My question is would it be alright to make it into a 383? I'd like to cam it up a little bit so it has that aggressive sound. It'll go into a daily driver that hopefully soon will be running 35's. Tranny is a semi built 700r4. Also could use some advice as to what cam to run. Thanks everyone

Re: Need engine advice.
Sure thats a fine block to use. As for cam there is a million choices decide on engine specs first then we can talk cams.

Re: Need engine advice.
If you want to add ARP main studs it will strengthen the main caps. The main bores will have to be checked and may have to be align-bored and/or align-honed.
The studs will clamp the caps down with more pressure is why this step will be necessary.

Re: Need engine advice.
To get the most out of the stroker, you have to open up the lungs on it, that will also allow you to run the cam you want. I would convert it to a roller set-up if funds allow. That will just allow you to get a little more cam. But, just like anything, when you add lift, you are going to have to add everywhere. Stall converter will likely be required.

Re: Need engine advice.
The cam depends upon desired performance. The Thumpr line is designed to sound aggressive but be driveable. I am confused about stroking a daily driver. I might be tempted to find some vortec heads instead for that use. It might be because I am fast developing that old man, "why so much power in a commuter truck?" viewpoint, so just wheel me over to the sunny window with the view.

Re: Need engine advice.
Align hone is required when installing studs, I've never heard it talked about as optional.

Re: Need engine advice.
I would check these heads out instead of Vortec. These are 210 intake runners.

I don't see any mention of it being "optional" !!?? ..bored and honed, or honed (without boring ). Guess I should have added "only" to the end of that sentence.
