bought another 72 this week

I just got me another 72 this week. It is a C20 Cheyenne Custom Camper, with a 350 and auto. The pickup was bought new in California. The original owner passed away in early 2015 and I just bought it from his estate. I hope it will clean up very well. Only rust is on the side toolbox door.

Re: bought another 72 this week

My 72 C10 originally had the side toolbox, but was taken out when it was repainted.

Re: bought another 72 this week

Nice truck!

Here are a couple of pictures of my Light Red truck after I got it cleaned up. The first one is when I had half of the hood done and the second is with the whole truck finished. I used Turtle Wax White Polishing Compound and a good Paste wax. I do mine by hand now. I used a buffer on a Yellow & White '70 I had and buffed through the original paint in a couple of places.

Just curious: How are you getting it back to SD...driving or shipping it?

How many miles on it? With a one owner, hopefully someone knew if/how many times the odometer rolled over.

I bet that color buffs up nice.

Congrats!

Re: bought another 72 this week

Thanks for all the replies. I will get some more pictures soon.

Slikside, I have the pickup in South Dakota now. The original owner was originally from SE Montana about 90 miles away. He passed this year and was in his 80's. He moved back to MT a few years ago to be put in an assisted living home, so all the vehicles for shipped here too.

Re: bought another 72 this week

Well I finally got my 72 taken in and had professional buffed and polished. It is a totally different pickup. Sargent Garage in Blackhawk, SD, did a fantastic job.

Re: bought another 72 this week

It has been touched up on the hood, other than that it appears to be original, even has nice wear marks on the drivers door from 40 years of an arm out the window!! It may get different wheels, but that will be it. It has had the 350 rebuilt and is very healthy. Other than the wheels, it will stay original. I don't plan on doing to much to it, as it probably wont stay in stable forever, still have that black shortbox or anything blue and white in my sights.

Wow the paint really polished up nice! That was a nice find. I'm sure the original owner is looking down from up above with a smile seeing his truck look that good. Very nice truck!
