how low on rallys?

here's my 72 with rallies my question is how low can I go with out it hitting the rim on the inside? it rubs right now ,I trimmed the lower control arm already it helped a bit but not much.i ordered two inch drop springs and it made it worse I have 3 inch drop spindles with the 15" rallies is the only answer is to get bigger rims? this pic is before installing the drop springs.

Re: how low on rallys?

Get the 6" rally wheel from a van and use them up front . I had a 5.5" drop in the front with no rubbing.

Re: how low on rallys?

I ran into the same situation when I was lowering mine, I was running 15" Rallys and just last month went to 20" American Racing Rallys. I don't think you would have to go to 20" but that is what I did to clear the control arms and the inner wheel rims. The first picture is old rims and bottom is the new ones.

Re: how low on rallys?

I'll trade you a pair of 6"-7" wide Rallys for two of your wheels.

Re: how low on rallys?

I'm no expert by any means but wheel to a arm distance is determined by wheel width and the amount of drop built into the drop spindle. The more drop built into the spindle the closer the rim will come to the a arm.

Re: how low on rallys?

My truck is sitting on rallys now with 2 in drop spindles and air ride. I have about 1/4 in of clearance with the suspension as low as it will go. I've never checked to clearance with the suspension at ride height. It may change I don't know. I would cycle it through its range of motion and measure for you but my truck is 70 miles away right now.

Re: how low on rallys?

I think if I'd I had 2 to 21/2 drop spindles it would be ok but with 3 inch it's too much.

My pic above is with 2.5" spindles and 8" rallies. I almost think a 2" spindle would be OK with 8" wheels, or at least only a little shaving.

Re: how low on rallys?

I have 2.5" DS and no rubbing. I honestly don't know my wheel width or BS. They are at least 7" though.
