Re: Steam blowing in cab
You may have punctured the new heater core with the screws that hold the brackets in the box.

Re: Steam blowing in cab
Either that or one of the hoses is leaking and its getting inside the heater box.

Re: Steam blowing in cab
I don't think it's likely to be hoses or clamps, since those are on the other side of the firewall. Of course, if the foam insulation between the core and the firewall is missing, it's possible steam could get in there. It can't hurt to check to make sure the clamps are tight.
Best case scenario would be a factory-defective heater core (it happens). But as the others stated, it's also very possible you damaged it during the installation. I would remove it very carefully, so that if it is a factory defect you can have the part house replace it. |

Re: Steam blowing in cab
Had a upper heater hose leak at the clamp at the heater core in a '67 C10 and coolant seeped into the box over the core... nice and foggy windows.

Re: Steam blowing in cab
I'm sure that was something you didn't wanna do twice.
Had that happen on a 1st Gen s10 once. Not fun.
