calling all bucket seat experts!
so i was led to believe these are 73+ bucket seats and brackets. i have them listed on the 73-87 parts board and i'm not getting any interest. i did some thorough searching through 69-72 listings and i am starting to think these are 71-72??? i would love some input from the experts...
the console in the photos is NOT necessarily from the same truck. i think that may be what threw people off before.

Re: calling all bucket seat experts!
I have no idea. The console with cup holders will be 1973+
I believe the seat frames and foam is the same from 1971 to 1977. The covers do not look OE but rather replacements. I don't know the differences in the seat tracks. The Blazer/Jimmy had a folding passenger base. From what I've seen, trucks (and Suburbans?) had a stationary passenger seat base. Suburbans and Blazers would have had plastic seat backs hiding the foam.

from lookin at the mount it appears that they are both drivers side buckets as the passenger would be either fixed or it would b a flip up mount

Re: calling all bucket seat experts!
It's very hard to tell from pics. The foams cross over to the early square body trucks, but the bottom skirts are slightly different. The only way to really tell is have a 69-72 bucket next to a 73+ bucket to compare. As far as seat brackets, the front "stands" are about 3" tall on 69-72 brackets and 4" tall on 73+ brackets, other than that they are hard to distinguish.

Re: calling all bucket seat experts!
very hard to tell. Possibly 73+ stands and 69-72 seats(?) - or 69-72-like covers stretched over 73+foams/bases, etc. I always thought the 73+ had more of a square upper seat back when compared to the curved shoulders of the 69-72s. Here's my 76's seats - believe they are actually out of a 74, but who knows!

Re: calling all bucket seat experts!
They definitely look like 1973+ seat brackets. The seats themselves look more like 69-72 buckets. Could be a few reasons why. They could be a 73+ seat with 69-72 foam and seat covers. They could also be 69-72 seats with 73+ brackets. Like leddzepp said, it's very hard to tell without other seats there to compare them to.
Nice looking seats either way. I would move them over to the 1967-1972 for sale section and get them sold! |

Re: calling all bucket seat experts!
FWIW
73+ brackets (nice looking seats BTW) I just checked my (69-72 and 73+) buckets - your brackets look exactly like my 74 and not my 72. In addition to the measurements, the indentations on the triangulated front support/riser are different. 69-72 have a symmetrical "U/V" shape and the 73+ have an off set "V". I'm attaching an image of the 69-72's I just sold. Take a look. Like others have said, I think the seats could be any year from 69-77, but given the brackets more likely 73+ just re-done looking more like 71-72. Certainly some seats look a bit more square, sharp, or narrow at the top and some have a gap between top and bottom, but I would guess that is more in the foam, cover, color and workmanship. I think the frames are the same. Once redone any of these years could be made to look like another. As we all know, however, the brackets are distinctly different. My observations only - others likely know better. |
