Can't find horn contact part numbers
After hours and hours of troubleshooting and research, I've finally solved my horn issues. But I need 2 pieces and can't find them anywhere online. I can touch a wire from inside the turn signal cancel cam hole to the center of the column and my horn honks, as expected, I'm just missing a couple of pieces. Anyone have any ideas?
a) Horn Contact Ring (Mine is broken) b) Brass Horn Contact / Plunger / Rod / Thingy? (Completely missing) My current situation: The part I need: |

You can get a original turn signal switch here.

Re: Can't find horn contact part numbers
if you look at the first pic near the bottom, there is a brass looking spring inside the housing. That could be your spring and button that fell out.

For the record I'm using a newer GM steering wheel and therefore won't be using the original style horn cup kit. Like this... (I'm just missing that plunger UNDERNEATH the horn contact ring. |

You must be talking about the replacement cancellation piece that has the two cancel spring's that are at most auto parts stores. And it also looks like you have a tilt column... this is the correct switch assembly. They all have the horn contact pre installed. http://www.classicparts.com/mobile/1.../#.VkoEK8vTnqA Last edited by GTSideSwipe; 11-16-2015 at 12:35 PM. |

Re: Can't find horn contact part numbers
Sorry about that, I must have been looking at the wrong part. Tried to edit my post afterwards but it was too late! I'd hate to replace the whole turn signal switch when all I really need is the brass contact. Mine is a non-tilt column, some of the pictures above aren't mine, just found them on the forum while searching. Is there a spring underneath that brass contact?

Re: Can't find horn contact part numbers
I gotcha. Is that button spring loaded? Seems to me like it would/should be.

Re: Can't find horn contact part numbers
Yeah, it is. You could try taking it apart and getting a new longer spring. Either way its the spring that is worn out. I was trying to fix this exact problem and it turned out its get a completely new turn signal switch or replace the worn out spring behind the brass contact. It was better in the long run to get a completely new turn signal switch.
