Green machine
I'm seriously considering this beast
https://susanville.craigslist.org/cto/5306406594.html Recently I asked for local help with an inspection in San Diego. I got three responses and additional feedback from others who viewed the CL ad. Bottom line, they discouraged me from pursuing the truck which probably saved me from financial ruin. So if there is anyone in the Lake Tahoe area who is interested in previewing this truck, I will pay you for your time. It's a win-win, you get the fun of test driving a cool truck and I avoid a 5 hour drive. Of course, if you give me the blessing, I guess I'll make the drive but at least know it's the real deal. Here's some additional info, not included in the ad Rear end is upgraded and transmission is from a newer truck and has manual overdrive. As I understand it, the driver pulls a lever which engages the OD. So when you reach speed on the freeway, you engage the OD, w/o pushing in the clutch I guess. Then as you exit the freeway, you disengage the OD so it's not being used in 2nd gear. I've asked for pictures of the undercarriage which I'll post when I get them. He will also send more pictures of the dash which I'll show you too. Again, I value your time and will compensate you. Send me a PM and we'll work out the details. For those that are not local to Tahoe, please review the ad and give me your feedback and suggestions. Thanks, Rob |

Re: Green machine
One other thing I forgot. The rear has been lowered three inches to level the truck. Since the days of carrying heavy loads in the back are over, this probably isn't a bad thing. The second picture shows the new stance. Front is the factory level.

Re: Green machine
Wow nice looking ride! If it turns out to be as good as they say, it's a pretty good deal.

Re: Green machine
That truck in Santa Cruz has been sold for about a week but the guy never stopped the ad. My heart drops every time see it
I think the area where I live is called Wesleyan Park but not sure of the spelling. It's between Arlington and Edgewood just west of the Stacks Rob |

Re: Green machine
That price seems kind of high considering there isn't disc brakes on it which isn't too expensive with even the cheapest kit. I'm not a fan of the X frame or torsion bars either.
I found a few here and there. Link: http://mendocino.craigslist.org/cto/5297763786.html Link: http://bakersfield.craigslist.org/cto/5274400032.html

Re: Green machine
Wellesley Crescent Park. I know exactly where that is. Im just behind Carlmont in SC.
Just my .02. If I were considering paying the amount of money that they are asking, I think I would need to at least see power front discs, power steering and either a 700r4 or a 5 speed manual. A little cleaner engine compartment wouldn't hurt either. The body does look very clean but add the cost of the mechanical upgrades that have been mentioned onto the original purchase price and it's not so sweet of a deal. FWIW, I found my '63 in Oregon. Paid too much. I drove it around this area for a number of years with the drum brakes and although they worked fine, I like my disc brakes WAY better with the way that people drive around here at rush hour. Im sure you know what I mean living as close to Whipple as you do. Your truck is out there if you are patient, stay ready (with cash lol) and keep educating yourself on them.
