Moving overseas, can't sell truck

Hey guys, I am moving overseas, and have yet to sell my truck. I have pretty much run out of time. I have had it listed here for a few weeks as well.

Any suggestions on how to move the truck fast?

Here is my listing on this board:

http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/c...ce-drop&cat=12

I am pretty sure Carmax is out of the question and most used car dealers are gonna offer me next to nothing. Maybe not?

I have had a lot of interest but no one that can follow through with actual money.

Re: Moving overseas, can't sell truck

I presume you' advertised it locally -- Craigslist, AutoTrader, etc. If you haven't already, you might give eBay a try. Maybe park it on the corner of a busy intersection with a sign in the window. I would think that truck would get folks' attention.

I'm in sales and one thing I can tell you is, no matter what anybody says, it always comes down to price. I looked at your ad and think you probably have it priced fairly, but the reality is it's is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay. If you're out of time you probably have two options, lower your price or store it. I know that's not what you want to hear, but a little money is better than no money.

Good luck.

Re: Moving overseas, can't sell truck

Sorry to hear that you have to sell your truck. No family/friends that can store it for you? Looks like a pretty solid truck from the pics, but maybe some more info would help???

Is it a LWB or SWB? Looks like conventional hydro. breaks (air brakes in ad).

Try eBay, CL, or local Trader mags?

Maybe someone here can come up with other options?

Good Luck with your sell!

Thumbs up Re: Moving overseas, can't sell truck

I'm sorry you can't sell it. I would be happy to store it in my back yard for free if you would be interested in it. I have a nice fenced in area that is not seen from the road and it would be outside all the time. It has 8' privacy fencing all around it where I store golf carts and my trailer.
I know it's kind of odd but seeing how you are a military personal I will be happy to do this until you get back are you can setup a sell for it. I would help with selling if that's what you want also. It want cost you a penny.
I'm in SC which is only about a 2hr ride from Atlanta.
If interested PM me and I will send you my cell number so we can talk. I'm also in a local truck club with over 800 members so I could maybe get some local interest in it as well.
Thank you for your service to our country and be careful overseas

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Sorry, I am moving overseas because I took a job in The Netherlands. I am not in the military, I used to be, but no longer.

Maybe barter for something that you will need overseas.

Re: Moving overseas, can't sell truck

It may be the bed holding off someone. If I had the spare money I could tie up I would buy it to put on a long bed painted to match then list it for $8500. Of course with my luck and the recent downturn in my local economy[It is not a rosy pic of our outlook]I probably could only get $2500. But like my dad once said "its cheaper than farming" See the Gov has put an end to farm subsidies and prices plunged and now I'm hearing that 30 to 35% of the ones who farmed this year won't next cause they won't be able to get a crop loan. I'm not talking about 30 acre truck patches I'm talking these guys farm 2000 to 8000 acres some more some less. It really looks bleak here.
Oh and please don't take it as a bash that it might only bring $---- here I'm not in any way wanting to take away from your awesome ride. I do feel however it would be a little easier to sell with a fleet bed. Good luck to you . Jim

I kind of agree with Jim here. I have a nice '72 flat bed that I know I will never be able to get my money back out of if I try to sell it as a flat bed. I have saved back a nice fleetside bed I will put on it if I ever decide to sell it.

I think you have a more limited buyer base with the flat bed..... They have to have a real use for it, like a business of some kind.

I have to agree with those that said a flatbed is tough to sell- my paraphrasing- I'm looking for a truck in that range- a good clean one, but the flatbed isnt my style. I'm sorry you're running out of time, have you considered every option at this point?

If you run out of time I could probably store it for you for free while you try to sell it . It would be under my tractor shed though ,no room inside my shop.

Re: Moving overseas, can't sell truck

As a suggestion , sign over a power of attourney to a trusting friend along with the signed title and have him assist in selling. I have taken on many items from friends who were moving and left them with me to help in selling. sometimes I am able to find a new home for their stuff.

Re: Moving overseas, can't sell truck

Get it to me I'll find a bed for it paint it to match the rest of the truck then send you the $4000 when it sells and keep the rest for the bed and the paint. But like I said in my area it might not do but $4050 bucksnot by any fault of anyone but the economy has taken a huge dump in my farming area. I know you don't know me from Adam, [but I have a belly button is the way you could tell] I'm just trying to help I'm sure you can do something better to have a way out. A lot of people know that these trucks are super valuable but a lot that have them don't know that they are not super easy to sell because they plan on keeping them always. There is something to figure that most of the people wanting one is on here already since this is the best site for this type of truck and there is a limited pool of potential buyers. Jim

Re: Moving overseas, can't sell truck

It's deff the flat bed that devalues it 100%. There's a local truck to me in the same boat. Started at $3000CAD so $2200USD & now down to $2000CAD/$1500USD and still not selling. Just the way it is in some areas. And this truck isn't a rust bucket, it's a clean daily driver. If you had a bed it would've sold at $4g easy.

Best is take whatever you can get if you can't hold on to it or have a family member sell it.

Re: Moving overseas, can't sell truck

Look at it from a strictly economic standpoint... how much money are you willing to lose on the sale?

Is that lost money more than, equal to, or less than the cost of shipping it over there and driving it?

If you shipped it over there, I'll bet you could sell it in Europe pretty easily. And if not, just drive it!

I am pretty sure it will not pass European exhaust regulations.

Find a local hot rod/customs shop and have them sell it on consignment.
