SBC heads - where's the oil fill port?

Can someone post a pic of the location of the oil ports on SBC heads? I need to add oil but my valve covers are off (the fill cap is on the valve cover).

Don't have a pic BUT... The drain ports are in the upper corners. These drain into the valley.

By upper corners, do you mean on the inboard side (the side nearest the intake manifold) near the valves? I know they're at the front and back of the heads, but I can't tell if the holes are on the inboard or outboard sides. There's oil pooled in both places.

You can just slowly pour oil onto the head and it will find it's way to the return holes - marked red in the image. Or you can drop a funnel into one of the large holes between the push rods. The shape will depend on which era head you have.

Cool, thanks :-) That's exactly what I was looking for. Here's a numbered pic of the head holes. Can anyone correct me and/or fill in the blanks?

4) open hole to lifter valley
5) pushrod port
6) head bolt
7) valve cover bolt hole. That image is of Vortec head that uses center bolts. Older style mounts are on the gasket rail as seen on the bottom of the 2nd image I posted above.
