Is this with the switch on, switch off, running or not..... Try unplugging the connector with the two purple wires from the NSS and see what it does.

Re: steering column issue

You have the reverse light wiring and the neutral safety wiring mixed up. The power lead for the reverse lights and the lead from the neutral safety to the starter are on the reverse light circuit it sounds like, but it shouldn't start with the key that way. May be a bad switch and the wiring could be correct. I'd disconnect the wires and check the switch continuity first.

As of May 2017 it now has a turbo LS in it! (Still looks stock though)

Re: steering column issue

Wow, Skinny, if that's what happened (and it sounds plausible) he's running the starter solenoid with the backup light circuit. I wouldn't think the fuse could take it! I guess with the motor already running it'd not doing a lot of work.

Good catch if you turn out to be right!

Re: steering column issue

Thanks for the input! I'll check it out!
Right now looking under the dash at the NSS
The green wires are on the left and the purple are on the right. Did I screw this up?!
Thanks again for your help!

Re: steering column issue

I think it's right, the connectors are specific to each side so I can't switch them by accident.
However while fiddling with them, it seems the NSS has shorted out and pop went the fuse...
More soon..

If they are indeed backwards it might not be a "short", it might just be the starter solenoid is too much load for the backup light circuit.

There is no fuse on the crank or ignition, so far as I'm aware, just a fusible link in the main harness.

So if the fuse that blew was the backup lights, even more interesting!

Re: steering column issue

OK... So heres what i found...

pulled transmision to change the flexplate because it was hamerd by the starter grinding into it. the starter was jacked by this as well so changed it.

I installed a new ididit tilt steering column.

the company that i got the other tilt wouldnt accept it as a return or defective so it in the garbage can

this tilt column that i origanalily installed was wiried wrong inside. the purple and the backup light circuts were shorted and or switched inside the column, when shifter moved from park through reverse they all intermintently have power.

so... if you buy a column thats been made from a chevy van column, be sure to inspect it really well or youl may sufer the same fate as me...

thanks everyone for your help....
