Nice truck but a 273 Mopar engine in it? The good of that is that the engine, trans and shifter are worth the cost of a 350 and T-5 and then some to a Mopar collector who has an early Barracuda that needs that drive train.

My ongoing truck projects:
48 Chev 3100 that will run a 292 Six.
71 GMC 2500 that is getting a Cad 500 transplant.
77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

True, but it opens up the window for a good bone yard HEMI + 5 or 6 spd swap.

Re: Nice AD on Ebay not mine

traditional hot rodding was about using what was available, not the "follow the same formula" that it is today. that mopar drivetrain was better than the original motor by a long shot, and judging by the seats and the heater controls, (and maybe even the rearend and wheels!) the donor gave more parts than the drivetrain.

I think it is dynamite. I would have talked to grandpa for days about it.

Re: Nice AD on Ebay not mine

Not a mopar expert but know 273-340-360 all interchange. I believe when the 383-440 and Hemi motors are swapped for the small blocks it requires a new K (front cross) member. In high school in 1968 I helped a freind shoe horn an early hemi into a Jeepster. Other friends had a Caddy engine in a early 50's Studebaker truck and a 401 Nailhead in a 49 Ford coupe. Back then you could go to a wrecking yard and buy just about any engine for $50-75. My 57 210 sedan cost $40 for everything except the engine and trans.
